Professional Associations Engagement - Ongoing Project

The project is a civic education and accountability initiative that engages professional groups as key actors in strengthening democratic governance in Kenya. It maps and analyses professional organizations—including regulators, councils, associations, and umbrella bodies—to understand their mandates, influence, and potential for civic engagement. Through research, dialogue forums, and capacity-building activities, the project supports professionals to participate more effectively in public accountability, policy advocacy, and civic education at national and county levels.

The Aim of the Project

The project aims to equip professionals with accessible civic knowledge, practical tools, and platforms for collective action, fostering informed participation, issue-based engagement, and a more accountable, inclusive, and responsive democratic system.

What Made It Work

-Multi-country research engaging survivors’ families, policymakers, law enforcement, and civil society

-Focus on legal frameworks, gaps in prosecution, and accountability systems

-Collaboration with researchers, practitioners, and advocacy actors across both countries

-Grounding evidence in lived experiences to inform actionable solutions
